EXPLANATION: Here are the 5 different ways of doing it:
- a touchdown with an extra point and a field goal
- five safeties
- two safeties and two field goals
- a touchdown without an extra point and two safeties
- a touchdown with a two-point conversion and a safety
Thank you Wes Bosco for pointing out that since 2015, another way to score two points is with a defensive
two-point conversion (when a two point conversion gets intercepted and the opposing team is able to return
the ball to the opposite end zone). So the word "safeties" in the list above should instead be "safeties
and/or defensive two-point conversions".
