Lateral Thinking #25- Suspicious Behaviour -
A woman is resting in her hotel room when there is a knock on the door. She opens the door and sees a
man she has never seen before. He apologizes and says "I'm sorry, I thought this was my room".
The man then heads down the hall and into the elevator. The woman goes back into her room and calls
security. What made the woman suspicious of wrongdoing?
HINT: There's something unusual that the man did.
ANSWER:
You don't knock on your own hotel room door which is what the man did.
If the man had misplaced his room key and accidentally knocked on the wrong door (to be let in), he
would have looked at the room number before walking away (to see if he had remembered the wrong number)
or paused in the hallway while he tried to recollect his room number or phoned whoever he was sharing
the room with to get the right number instead of going immediately to the elevator.
Do you have a
suggestion for this puzzle (e.g. something that should
be mentioned/clarified in the question or solution, bug, typo, etc.)?
